📱

How to Listen on Your Phone

You have a few great options here, and most of them are completely free. Pick whichever one feels right. You really can't go wrong.

Spotify

Free option available
  1. Open the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android) on your phone.
  2. Search for "Spotify" and tap Install (it's free to download).
  3. Open the app and create a free account. You can sign up with your email or your Google/Facebook/Apple account.
  4. Once you're in, tap the Search icon (the magnifying glass at the bottom).
  5. Type "The Dogmother" in the search bar and tap on the artist result that says Valentina Talor.
  6. Tap the green Follow button so you'll be notified when new music drops.
  7. Tap any song to play it. Hit the heart icon next to a song to save it to your library.
Good to know Spotify's free version plays ads between songs, similar to radio. If you'd rather skip ads, Spotify Premium is about $12/month — but the free version works perfectly fine for listening.

Apple Music

Free trial, then $11/mo
  1. If you have an iPhone, you already have the Music app installed (the icon with the musical note on a white/red background).
  2. Open the Music app and tap Search at the bottom.
  3. Type "The Dogmother" and tap the artist result.
  4. If you've never used Apple Music, it will offer you a free trial — tap to start it. You can cancel anytime before it charges.
  5. Tap any album or song to start listening. Tap the + button to add songs to your library.
  6. Tap the star or heart icon to mark your favorites.
Good to know If you have an Android phone, you can download Apple Music from the Google Play Store. It works just the same.

YouTube Music

Free option available
  1. Open the App Store or Google Play Store and search for "YouTube Music" (it has a red play button icon).
  2. Download and open it. If you already have a Google/Gmail account, you're already signed in.
  3. Tap Search and type "The Dogmother".
  4. Tap on the artist or any song to start listening.
  5. Tap Subscribe on the artist page to stay updated.
Good to know YouTube Music is free with ads. You can also watch the music videos on regular YouTube at youtube.com/@TheDogMotherMusic.

Right Here on This Website

No app needed
  1. Go to the homepage. You'll see a music player near the top of the page.
  2. Tap the pink play button to start the radio. It plays through the whole catalog.
  3. Use the skip buttons to jump to the next or previous song.
  4. Browse by mood — there are playlists for desert vibes, beach days, heartbreak, and more.
Good to know The website radio works in any phone browser — Safari, Chrome, whatever you use. No app or account needed. Just tap play.

How to Download Songs

If you like to own your music outright — the way we used to buy CDs — you can download songs directly. Here's how it works.

Downloading from This Website

  1. Go to the Music page and find the song you want.
  2. Click on the song name to open its page.
  3. Look for the "Buy / Download" button (it has a $ symbol).
  4. This will open an email to Howling Moon Music. Tell them which song(s) you want and they'll send you the file or a download link.
  5. Save the file to your computer or phone. On a computer, it usually goes to your Downloads folder. On a phone, check your Files app.

MP3 vs. WAV — What's the Difference?

Think of it like the difference between a photocopy and an original photograph. Both look great, but one is the real deal.

WAV

Studio Quality

This is the full, uncompressed audio file — exactly what came out of the studio. Sounds incredible, but files are large (30-50 MB per song). Best for home speakers and audiophiles.

MP3

Everyday Listening

A compressed version that still sounds great to most ears. Files are much smaller (3-8 MB per song). Perfect for phones, car USB sticks, and saving storage space.

Bottom line For most people, MP3 is perfectly fine. If you're playing through a really nice speaker system and you care about audio quality, WAV is worth it. Either way, you'll love how it sounds.

Saving to Your Phone or Computer

  1. iPhone: When you receive the download link, tap it in Safari. The file will download — open your Files app (the blue folder icon) to find it in the Downloads folder. From there you can add it to your Music app using iTunes on a computer.
  2. Android: Tap the download link in Chrome. The file saves automatically. Open your Files app and look in Downloads. Most Android music player apps (like Samsung Music) will find it automatically.
  3. Computer (Mac): Click the download link. The file goes to your Downloads folder. Double-click it and it opens in Apple Music or your default music player.
  4. Computer (Windows): Click the download link. Check your Downloads folder. Double-click the file to play it in Windows Media Player, or drag it into your preferred music app.

How to Play Songs in Your Car

The best music always sounds better with the windows down. Here are three ways to get The Dogmother playing through your car speakers.

Bluetooth from Your Phone

This is the most common way. Your phone plays the music wirelessly through your car speakers.

  1. In your car, make sure Bluetooth is turned on (check your car's audio settings or infotainment screen).
  2. On your phone, open Settings and tap Bluetooth. Make sure it's on.
  3. Your phone should show your car's name in the list of available devices. Tap it to pair.
  4. You may need to confirm a code on your car screen — just tap Yes or Confirm.
  5. Once connected, open Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, or this website and hit play. The sound comes through your car speakers.
Troubleshooting If it doesn't connect, try turning Bluetooth off and on again on both your phone and your car. If you've connected before, your phone should reconnect automatically when you get in the car.
💾

USB Drive Method

Old school but reliable. Load songs onto a USB flash drive and plug it into your car.

  1. Get a USB flash drive (also called a thumb drive or memory stick — you can find them at any store for a few dollars).
  2. Plug the USB drive into your computer.
  3. Copy your downloaded music files (MP3 works best) onto the USB drive. Just drag and drop them.
  4. Eject the USB drive safely (on Mac, click the eject icon; on Windows, click "Safely Remove Hardware").
  5. Plug the USB drive into your car's USB port (usually in the center console or glove box).
  6. Your car's audio system should recognize it. Select USB as your audio source, and your songs will appear.
Good to know Most cars play MP3 files from USB without any issues. If your car is from 2015 or newer, it almost certainly has a USB port. Some older cars have an "AUX" port instead — for that, you'd use a cable from your phone's headphone jack to the AUX port.
🔅

Apple CarPlay / Android Auto

If your car has a touchscreen and supports CarPlay or Android Auto, your phone apps show up right on the car screen.

  1. Plug your phone into your car using a USB cable (or connect wirelessly if your car supports it).
  2. Your car screen should switch to show your phone's apps — you'll see familiar icons for Music, Spotify, Maps, etc.
  3. Tap the Spotify or Music icon on the car screen.
  4. Search for "The Dogmother" or browse your saved library.
  5. Tap a song to play. Control it right from the car screen — skip, pause, volume, everything.
Good to know CarPlay works with iPhones (2015 or newer). Android Auto works with most Android phones. If your car doesn't have either, Bluetooth is your best bet.

What Is Streaming?

If you grew up buying cassettes, CDs, or even downloading from iTunes, streaming might feel unfamiliar. Here's the simple version.

📻

Like Radio, But You Pick the Songs

Streaming means the music plays over the internet in real time. You don't buy individual songs — you access a huge library. Think of it like having every CD ever made, but instead of owning them, you're renting access. The music plays instantly without downloading anything.

💰

How It Helps Independent Artists

Every time you play a song on Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube, the artist earns a small payment. It's fractions of a penny per play — but it adds up. When you stream The Dogmother's music, you're directly supporting an independent artist. No record label middleman.

How to Make the Biggest Impact

Follow The Dogmother on Spotify and Apple Music. Save songs to your library. Add them to playlists. Share songs with friends. Every one of these actions tells the algorithm "people love this artist" — and that puts the music in front of more listeners.
