The Songs

Some of us don’t go to the beach to escape our lives. We go there to remember who we were before life got so loud.

These aren’t postcard beach songs. They’re songs about desire, devotion, growing older, losing people we love, laughing again—and finding the one place where the noise finally disappears. From the Texas Gulf to the Florida Everglades, Coconut Kisses is sixteen different ways the water brings us home.

01

Nothing in my life magically changed overnight. But something inside me did.

I woke up beside the bay with coffee in my hand, gulls laughing overhead, and peace settling back into my bones. The world was still wild. Trouble was still talking. It just couldn’t steal my view anymore.

This is the sound of realizing you’re whole again.

02
MANGROVES & MOONLIGHT

JT took me into the Florida Everglades with no tent—just a hammock in the trees—and waited to see whether I could handle his world.

There were crickets, frogs, wild hogs, gators and things moving in the dark. Our boat rocked for reasons that had nothing to do with the water. I fell in the sand, he laughed, pulled me up and kissed me—and somehow, surrounded by everything that should have frightened me, I had never felt safer.

Only the gators know the rest.

03

Before texting, location sharing and phones that never stop ringing, we went parking.

An old Ford. A bench seat. Headlights low. Sand on the dashboard and a shirt on the floor while the ocean swallowed every sound behind the dunes. This is a Gen X memory for everyone who ever fogged up the windows and wished one summer night could last forever.

Honestly—shouldn’t we all go parking again?

04

The title is a warning—and no, this song has absolutely nothing to do with Australia.

This is what happens when the phone goes silent, the door locks and two people decide the rest of the world can fall apart without them. Lights low. Body purring. Peaches on somebody’s mind.

If you still need a map, you’re not ready to go Down Under.

05

Some memories don’t come back as pictures. They return as a scent on someone’s skin.

Coconut lotion. Salt air. A frozen drink sweating in your hand. One stolen kiss while the sky burns gold—and suddenly you’re young, barefoot and nowhere near ready for the day to end.

This song is about wanting to hold one perfect summer moment before the tide carries it away.

06

This isn’t a love song. This is what happens after the door locks.

Keys on the floor. Silk against skin. All the pressure of the outside world disappearing beneath slow hands and a velvet kiss. No thinking. No fighting. No pretending the fantasy is innocent.

Some knots are meant to be untied. This isn’t one of them.

07

Some love arrives quietly. This one struck without warning and changed the entire sky.

Every storm, scar and sleepless mile somehow led two souls to the same place. Now one voice can stop the world; one hand can feel like the promised land.

This is the kind of love that doesn’t ask permission. It hits—and nothing inside you is ever the same again.

08

Paradise isn’t always somewhere expensive with a guarded gate. Sometimes it’s the little Texas town everyone else drives past.

It’s stars without city lights, a campfire on the beach, shrimp boiling, gulls diving and two bare feet dancing beside the bay. Port Lavaca isn’t polished for tourists—and that is exactly why I love it.

The best-kept secret on the Texas coast is the place I call home.

09

They whispered about us in corners while we pretended we were only friends. Then one sunset, you took my hand—and we stopped living for everybody else.

From the Smokies to the Gulf, through desert skies and moonlit shorelines, you became my shelter, my escape, my wild and my stay. When I’m with you, trouble loses our address.

The world doesn’t become perfect. It simply disappears.

10

Nobody has ever been happier to see me than my dogs.

The second I walk through the door, the tails start flying, the butts start bouncing and their entire bodies wiggle like they might explode from joy. I watched that ridiculous welcome-home dance and realized it was impossible to stay in a bad mood while someone loved me that much.

This is what unconditional love looks like from behind.

11

I thought I was writing about a first kiss. Then the song grew old with us.

It begins at a county fair—young, laughing and tasting pink sugar on each other’s lips. Then come the beach years, morning coffee, silver hair, laugh lines and tears. Time changes our faces, but one smile can still take me back to where it all began.

This isn’t a love that melted. This is a love that stayed.

12

The church rejected them. God didn’t.

After I Didn’t Die, One Night with the Devil and Smoke Me, two outlaws stand beneath the stars with no church, no family, no witnesses and nothing left to prove. The forest becomes their sanctuary. Heaven becomes their witness. Their joined hands become the only vow they need.

This is the love story the world tried to destroy—and the fire it could never put out.

13

JT wrote this through the eyes of a man completely wrecked by a woman who doesn’t need heels, makeup or anyone’s permission to be magnetic.

She was raised on Bible and barefoot days, with saltwater in her mind and sunshine running down her spine. A little wild. Completely free. The kind of woman who can make the surf shake just by walking past.

Beach beauty isn’t a look. It’s a soul nobody can tame.

14

I thought I was writing a song about the beach. I was really writing about my father.

I was his bleach-blonde, freckled little girl—pink bows, shrimp bucket, fishing pole and Daddy beside me on that old wooden pier. He taught me to stand my ground when storms arrived and trust that every tide eventually turns.

He’s gone now, but when life runs me low, I still hear his voice in the undertow. You can move the girl anywhere—but you can’t shake the sand, or her daddy, from her soul.

15
GET STONED WITH YOU

Some love stories are built on grand gestures. Ours is built on surviving the week and still choosing each other when it’s over.

Lock the door. Put the world on silent. Let the smoke rise, the shoulders drop and everything we carried home finally loosen its grip. This isn’t really a song about getting high.

It’s about the person you feel safe enough to come down with.

16
WILDFLOWER DREAMS

This isn’t a song about becoming everything we dreamed of when we were young. It’s about looking back and realizing that maybe we became something better.

Life happened. Plans changed. Years disappeared. And somehow we ended up in a little trailer by the sea, still carrying pieces of those fearless kids we used to be. Not every dream came true—but I wouldn’t change the road that brought us here.

It’s a wild world. This is the life we grew anyway.
